Book Reviews: My Last Five…
Been a while. Here’s what I’ve been reading.
1. Will by Will Smith & Mark Manson
I first started reading this book before the Oscar fiasco. After that, I admit I put the book down for a while and struggled to get back to it. Nonetheless I returned and finished it.
It’s a good read — nicely separated into adept chapters which back track to early years, getting better as you read further into it and find out more about his spiritual journeys. Something that was new to me.
Anyone from the 80’s / 90’s will know he has a strong connection to their childhood. Anyone who’s into movies will come across one of his blockbusters. Anyone who’s into music will have bopped to ‘Summertime’ or got ‘jiggy with it’.
He’s really had a helluva ride and pushed the bar constantly to achieve great things, albeit still being human and this book gives a glimpse into that side too.

2. Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline
Following up to Ready Player One was always going to be a tough ask. It was a phenomenal sci-fi story.
This is a valiant effort; another well crafted adventure with a decent concept — exploring more into the world of VR / AR. However it falls short of the predecessors magic and almost feels like it struggles to come up with a fresh new concept.
Still an entertaining escape for fans that continues a well known story.

3. Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King
I really enjoyed this book.
Re-telling his personal story, along with heartfelt anecdotes, insightful guidance and tools for cultivating a positive mindset to aid personal growth / inner peace Vex King manages to self-sooth and help others at the same time.
A lot of it may seem familiar, but the way Vex King breaks it down in his unique style of writing make it a modern take of positive and practical wisdom for modern day life.

4. This Bright Future by Bobby ‘Logic’ Hall
Whether you're a fan of Logic or not, this vivid portrayal of his thought provoking upbringing, broken down into three key chapters, is eye opening.
Die hard Logic fans won’t be surprised at some of the topics and stories told but ultimately it is a great real life story of having your own moral compass and how staying true will help you overcome even the hardest of times.
Peace, love and positivity.

5. The Diary of a CEO: 33 Laws for Business and Life by Steven Bartlett
Steven Bartlett is on fire right now and in my eyes can’t put a foot wrong.
Going from strength to strength — he’s taken insights from his ever-popular podcast with famous people, across all sectors, and all pour takeaways into this carefully organised book of 33 rules to help you excel in business and life.
A lot of the laws are relatable, with personal insights and personal stories from Steven himself, in a conversational style that helps it make for a compelling read.
A guide for modern times.
